How to Become Decisive

You want the sip? The easy answer is just decide.

Decide based on what is most in alignment with what you desire.

But that’s not what you want to hear, is it?

I know you.

The honest truth is that many of the decisions we need to make are full of uncertainty.

It feels scary…

Similar to a risk and sometimes… the decision you’re about to make IS a risk!

You need to know that not all risks are bad.

Making decisions that are in alignment with what you want are usually the tough decisions.

Let me ask you this - what’s the worst that can happen?

Maybe you made the wrong choice.

You’ve made it this far in life and I’m very confident that you can learn something from it or just move forward.

But what if it’s the right choice?

We get so overwhelmed by the “what ifs” and what can go wrong.

Sometimes we have so much happening in our lives that our mind is flustered.

But what do you want?

Otherwise, you’ll watch the days go by and those days eventually become weeks, months and then years.

Our time is a currency and something we simply cannot get back.

So, I’ll ask you again… what is it that you want and are you willing to make it happen?

Better yet, are you willing to do what’s uncomfortable in order to achieve it?

I’m not a fortune teller, but here’s what I know, ok?

I know that with every decision comes a lesson and that lesson takes us to the next step.

We can weigh all of the pros and cons, but unless we learn, we aren’t growing.

You need to trust yourself enough to decide.

Ready to get into the sip?

Aside from the basic, “just do it” and “just decide,” here are a few tactics to begin with TODAY.

Build Self Trust.

Remember how I shared that you need to trust yourself enough to decide?

Let’s build on that.

The only way to build self trust is to…

DECIDE, right?

Speaking of decisions and self-trust... have you ever considered how you're using your "work voice?" You can click here to sip on that later.

When you take action and make decisions, you are following through on a commitment.

That in itself builds confidence and leads to self trust.

Whether it worked out or not, it DID work out because you made a DECISION and whatever happens is going to lead you in the right direction.

You must trust yourself enough not only to make the decision, but to know that you can and will handle the outcome.

It IS possible to come out stronger.

If you allow yourself to come out stronger, then you will.

Right now, please ask yourself the following question and rate yourself with full honesty on a scale of 1 - 10.

How much do you truly trust yourself to make decisions?

Use this as a starting point and simply evaluate every 30 days.

Question Yourself.

  • What do I want?
  • Can this decision help me get there?
  • Is this decision going to kill me?

Keep it simple. That’s my motto here at Sipping Scale, right?

5 minute exercise

  • Grab a piece of paper.
  • Write out what you want.

That’s the exercise my friends.

Now, every time you have to make a decision, look at that piece of paper and ask yourself, “can this decision help me to achieve what I want?"

Ignore the chatter inside your mind and the what ifs.

Could it help you get closer or not?

Here's what will happen when you practice these two techniques.

When you begin practicing step one, which is self trust and then you ask yourself these questions, you will be equipped to handle whatever comes your way.

You will begin to see any outcome as opportunities.

The decisions become less scary.

Uncertainty will always be present, but you’ll trust yourself enough to know that you’re making decisions in alignment with what you want.

You think you can try this?

Mel Robbins. You’ve heard of her, right? Incredibly talented motivational speaker and author.

She has an awesome method when it comes to making decisions.

Count down from 5 and then GO.

5,4,3,2,1 and DECIDE.

If you haven't give this method a try, I highly recommend it, ok?

You know when your alarm goes off in the morning and you have to decide if you want to press snooze or get out of bed?

Count down really fast and then JUST DECIDE.

Wow... it works wonders.

I believe in you. Do you believe in you?

Be willing to consistently practice without adding an insane amount of pressure to yourself.

Face uncertainty and say, “WHY NOT!”

Make a decision and remember that you are capable of figuring out ANYTHING.

Are you going to let obstacles stop you?

Do you realize how much time the “what ifs” are consuming?

Like anything in life, becoming decisive is going to take time.

However, it’s the only way through to what you truly want.

Decide. Believe in yourself. Go.

…and that’s the sip!
